- What is Paintspace and how it works?
Paintspace at Irena Romendik Studio is a service where you can commission your very own custom oil portrait from a photograph. Whether a picture of yourself, your child, a friend or relative, or even an antique family photo, we will create for you a unique, state-of-the-art museum quality oil painting.
Here is how:
- Fill the form, estimate expences, and upload your image(s)
- Follow the progress of your commission
- If you are satisfied with your creation, pay and define shipping preferences
- We will send your one of a kind portrait wherever you would like!
- Recieve your custom portrait along with sertificate of authenticity and enjoy your one-of-a-kind painting for generations!
- How is Paintspace different from other custom portrait services?
We are unique because we combine antique ages prooved techniques with cutting-edge modernistic state-of-the-art style. We use only the best materials and don't let production speed to compromize the quality. We don't use artificial driers. However, we do some modifications to outdated or toxic materials based on the latest discoveries in art chemistry. For example, we replaced our glazing materials with latter-day ones because they proof to be UV resistant and non-yellowing. We also replaced toxic substances with modern substitudes.

You can send us JPG, GIF, and PNG files.
- Can I use black & white photos?
Absolutely. However, you should specify if you want to have your painting in color, or you want it in a stylish grisaille technique. If you select later, please let us know whether your prefer warm tones, cold tones, or neutral tones.
- What is "featured" option?
By selecting to be featured on Paintspace website, you recieve 30% discount (limited time only) off your order and agree that your painting can be used in any promotional material of Paintspace site as well as Irena Romendik Studio. You can see all featured paintings in our Portrait Gallery.
- Can my portrait be private?
Absolutely. Please indicate your privacy preferences in the "Notes" section of your painting commission form.
- What happens when I send my commission?
You recieve the copy of your order along with order ID. Keep order ID for future reference. We will contact you with any questions, suggestions and price options. Every single order is hand picked and analized by the artist to give you your unique personalized options. Your final selection defines a price for your painting. When the price is set, we will send you a contract with payment arrangements. Once you pay deposit, we start your painting. We will update you with images of every stage of the execution. You will see each layer in progress. If you miss scheduled update, you can always inquire by using your order ID, we'll send you a copy.
- How long does it take?
Since we are using classical technique, each layer takes about 1 week to dry to ensure archival qualities of final painting. Most often 3-4 layers are used. Each layer of oil paint should dry completely before the next layer can be applied, otherwise, it would lead to deterioration of paint surface over time. We also don't add artificial driers known to promote color change (yellowing and eventually brownish tint) and craquelures (shelling) over years. You will have an access to the work in progress preview: simply click "Check status of your order" and we will send all up to date information (along with current images) to your email.
- Is it free?
No.
- How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on size and complexity of individual painting. Since your portrait is a unique piece of art, very often size of the canvas and materials is only approximate guide for estimating final cost. The amount of initial deposit is based on canvas size and type.
- What if I don't like the result?
No problem. You only lose your unrefundable deposit.
- For how long my painting will survive?
We guarantee 500 years, otherwhise your money back.
Please note that we are not responsible for physical damage of the painting and improper care. - Is my painting washable?
Yes, you can take care of the dust using dump soft fabric.
- Does it come with frame? Glass?
No, we believe that frame choice is very specific to your interior.
No, oil painting doesn't need protection of glass. It is safe to hang it without glass. - Who is your exemplar client?
You!
- What is an average price for an average painting?
(price per sqare inch * (width * height)) + (( price per person) * (number of people))
- How much is deposit?
10% of the estimated final price.
